La Bernard Bourreau 2010
It looks like my season will begin at the April 10th 2010 “La Bernard Bourreau”  cyclosportive which starts at Ligugé, just south east of Poitiers.

I will be doing the shorter ‘La P’tit Frère’ ride at 84km’s compared to the main ride 154km’s. The 2010 circuit  is the same as previous years testing, which in my parlance is ‘hard-ish’. If the weather is kind (not windy or wet) it should be a good start to the season and a good chance to see how the winter training has actually gone. Then it will be into the real racing, which, with my new club mates look’s very interesting indeed... judging by a recent outing with them!

The weather is certainly not in anybody’s favour over here at the moment, freezing, snow, sleet and rain are the order of the day,  so I have plugged myself into some good old Waylon Jennings rockin’ country music , got the turbo trainer out to keep the legs moving and get some saddle kilometres in. Music is great until you get tired and can’t keep up with the rhythm, then all hell breaks loose... never was any good without rhythm!

I have ridden over quite a lot of the circuit for the ‘La P’Tit Frère’ during training rides. It has quite a few challenges especially when the old legs start to get tired, but when that happens there’s always the wonderful scenery to look at, along with the most appreciative and knowledgeable support from the French who shout out encouragement all the way. Great feeling even when you are on the rivet.
I’ll let you all know how the training is going as we progress - hopefully ‘progress’ is the right word for me....
